Die Tryin’ is an electroacoustic improvisation duo rooted in Berlin and Basel, featuring Paul Brauner and Mehmet Ali Simayli. They explore instant (re-)composing and medial feedback, integrating turntable, digital tape loops, percussion and no-input mixer with a setup of a self-made Max/MSP sampler, SP-404, collected modular synth samples, toys, percussion and contact mics through pedals. Spanning through uncategorized fields of sampling, improvising and liminality of limitations, they explore morphing rhythms, sustaining, still and drones areas electroacoustic improvising. Indistincting the spatial identity via intertwining tools, Die Tryin’ adapts High Fidelity and low fidelity together with the found materials from vinyls, digital signals and on the spot acoustic approach to their musical playground. Their debut at Casino Real 2023, Alexanderplatz, Berlin, was an absurd Death Metal set in balaclavas. Since then, they’ve spanned EAI, noise, and acoustic free improvisation, pushing sonic togetherness in child like explorations of their tools.
